If you break a mirror, do you really get seven years bad luck? Why is it unlucky for a Black Cat to cross your path? Comedy sketches aside, why is it unlucky to walk under a ladder. Can the number 13 really affect the real world. Are you superstitious? Of what and why? Discuss.

Moog, interesting theory. I for one am not superstitous and good thing too. One of my best friends owns a black cat so every time that I go to his place I inevitably have a black cat cross my path ... certainly not bad luck yet. As for 13, 'tis a good number, a prime number at that. Can't go wrong there.

Not superstitious.
I don't think 13 is an unlucky number. I've broken a mirror on accident and I can't say I had abnormally bad luck...
Although it must be noted on the idea of luck that 1) I don't believe in it, and 2) "If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have luck at all." lol
As for the black cat, I dunno. Odds are I'd shoot it before it got the chance if I could. because I don't like cats.

While i dont believe in the whole.. black cat crossing my path, or unlucky number 13 dealio.. i have to say I am mildly superstitious.
And before anyone goes into a huge lecture on the various and numerous reasons behind why superstions should NOT be believed.. i know all that stuff already, and every time i do something superstitious i scold myself, telling myself its stupid and unreal.. but in the back of my mind i cant seem to completely stop believing it.
For one i am very concious of jinxing things and I always knock on wood. And as silly as it is, i throw salt over my shoulder when i spill it... and many other various things.
And the weirdest part is is that I KNOW I shouldn't believe it. But for some reason I still kinda do.

Although I'm not a person of superstition or luck (Although I do believe in coincidence), I find that I say "If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have luck at all." pretty often.....*shrug* just a random note I thought I'd throw in on that note...
