There are seven books that make up this series and, I have to say, they just get better as they go. The inspiration for the story is Robert Browning's epic poem Childe Rolande To The Dark Tower Came. Roland Deschain of Gilead is a Gunslinger and a direct descendant of Arthur Eld (based loosely on King Arthur). The Universe is held up on seven Beams, five of which have failed, leaving the Universe and all the realities it contains, on the brink of destruction. So Roland stes out on a quest to find the Dark Tower, a Nexus where all the beams meet, where he hopes to stop the last Beams from failing and there-by saving the Universe. Along the way, he picks up four other Gunslingers from differant realities (possibly) and differant times to help him with his quest. Has anyone read these amazing books and, if you've read them all, what did you think to how the seventh book ended?

I moved this to the rightful area. Unfortunately, I don't have the power to make it a poll so that people can vote on how they liked it. Oh well!
Edit: Oh yeah, I have to ask, is this one of his horror series, or is it more fantasy? Because personally, I think Stephen King is a nutcase who needs to be in a padded room not writing some of the cracked up things he writes. However, I've heard he writes fantasy books as well which are worth the time of day.

It's a fantasy series, though there are some freaky parts in it. I can't say I'm a big Stephan King fan, but this series certainly changed my opinion of his writing I have to say.
