**Edit to say this: If any of the other mods decide that they want all the books to have their own thread, then fine by me. I'm just too lazy to do it, and so I figured I'd contain it all to one thread. Seems more organized to me that way anyhow.**
Harry Potter. It's become a household name. Everyone's heard the fictional stories about the teenage wizard with the scar on his forehead. Said to be a 7 part book, currently 6 of which have been released.
So what do you think about it?
Personally, I find that it's an okay series. I mean, I really like the whole setting and stuff. Except that their British. (If it weren't for France, they'd be #1 on my hit-list.) I find the story interesting enough. However, I've found that in later books, some of her things with the characters isn't realistic as far as how people are and how they react. I make it a point to observe people, their reactions, how this or that makes them feel, and I don't believe she's accurately done all of that. Although she's done a good job, I've seen much worse.
I find that the earlier books are much better suited to younger children, about 11 or 12 than older ones, 16+. It seems that with my generation going through the teen years, the books have developed with us. The later books, 5 and 6 being the last 2 released, are much more geared toward more adult-style reading than the earlier books.
For anyone who likes a good fantasy-fiction read, I'd say read it. Just remember, it's fictional. You can't really go buy a robe, some wands, yell a few words of Latin, and actually zap someone. I think as long as people understand this, we're good.
Also know that there are some severly off-blananced Bible-hugging zealots who will think you're the scurge and lowness of the earth for reading a book about witchcraft. They're just ignorant zealots who are narrow minded and know nothing, ignore them. (This coming from a religious person mind you. I repeat again: Zealots are just that, overzealous and close minded and don't grasp the ideas of fiction for enjoyment.)
Or maybe we just have those where I live...In the middle of the Bible Belt. Who knows.
