ok here we go firstly there all pretty darn good but i do have some comments good and helpfull i hope.... im going to number them downward to talk about them.... number 1 i love the saying in it, sigs like that need a phrase to really set them off and that does it for me Number 2 i would have maby feathered his hair a lil just to get rid of any rough edging, another trick thaat might have looked good would have to have done his eyes in colour or something and leave the rest in balc and white. number 4 - love this one only comment i would make is he may have looked a lil better darkended, using CTRL-L in photoshop gives you the options of levels and a few minor adjustments can make wonders. number 5 - see above comments Number 6 -perfect for what i assume you were going for, cant fault it at all and the look of it is brilliant number8 and 9 are also top notch, really like these two they both catch the eye straight away Number 9, nice colours but the stock is a lil blurred ill assume thats just how it was. Number 10 - what can i say comp winner material plain simple but very effective. Number 15- nice colours very dark and atmospheric, nice tag line Number 16 - beutifal colours very atmospheric and soft - good stock to accompany the nice background Number - 19 - love this one, great images wonderfully belnded and the most perfect tagline ever for the stock images plus a great font for such a word. - My favortie so far. Hope that was the sort of comments u were looking for ?

Moog: on the Gimp sigs, I couldn't feather. Also, couldn't do the thing with his eyes you were talking about. (on the 2nd sig.) Since I now have gained photoshop, I could, but not prior to that, lol.
The Yoruichi one is the one you were talking about with the stock right? Yeah, I just couldn't find ANY decent stock of her, but my friend asked me a few different times to make one for him, so I did with the best I could find. If it's the Matsumoto one, then hers was done intentionally. Part of it was blurred, so I smoothed it out, and it also helped blend the render into the background.
I noticed that since I got photosop and started doing multiple layers of the stock with different effects to enhance even low quality stock, it helps a lot. Photoshop, FTW!!! =) Also, the improvement comments were all during my Gimps, haha XD

Also much thanks to Moog for helping me get the layer mask to work correctly. It was seriously pissing me off and he was patient with me about it. (It's a lot better for cutting I found out, with a soft brush.) Um...I used some new techniques for coloring and blending.... and I know I already did a Kasumi sig, but I had more good stock of her, so she got nominated by convenience of stock. Since the whole thing here wasn't so much the signature, but enhancing my skills.

Very cool Ty. You're coming along nicely.
And you can actually more or less do everything you need with the Gimp. Just use the soft brush to outline the hair. As for coloring the eyes, you need to put the color over them and set it to "Hue" if I remember correctly. Just takes a little practice ...

Well, the thing with Gimp is that it merges everything in to one layer. And the way I work with my stock, I enhance it through mutliple layers, with different effects and stuff. So I have to move them around, change stuff on them and all, and with Gimp merging them, that's not possible. So provided I had a high quality stock starting out, yeah Gimp would be fine. I just like the ability to move and change each layer at whim, not have them merged automatically.

Well...they don't all come out as good. Too bad it's not all based on Typesetting though, I think I do dang good with it. So here's my Ace Combat 5 tribute. It's Kei Nagase, Callsign: Edge. Razgriz 2. Probably my favorite in the game, and a horribly hard person to find stock images of!! I wish I could've gotten the ones from the White Noise mission cutscene. They would've gone awesomely with this, color wise.....I also had some problems with my blending. I couldn't get it to do what I wanted completely, but I got it somewhat. I think I know what I did now though, so I might try to fix it later... Anyways, here it is: I'm currently working on my contest signature, so when it's done it'll be up in my gallery and in the art contest thread. EDIT Okay so here's my contest entry, it's Kate Beckinsale as Anna Valerious in the movie Van Helsing. I had a hard time finding good quality stock for it....but here's what I got. And I finally remembered an actual border!

Ty, my layers don't automatically merge. You should see how much time I spend playing with my stuff. Like the new images though. Very cool.

Thanks...
Hmm well mine always did. Maybe it was some default setting I needed to change. Because for me, that was the real separator between Gimp and Photoshop. A few of the filters are different, but that's it really. Brushing, coloring, smudging/burning, lighting, everything like that, I can pretty much do the same in either of them. I'll have to figure it out sometime so my layers don't merge.

And my new one. This project got put off for a long time. I don't think it came out as well as I'd have liked, but I had a real problem with stock quality (though, look at the game graphics, what can you expect?) and my danged colors would not cooperate with me very much. Not as much brushing as in some of the others, and more than the ones on my first post, lol. Anyways, at about 3:30 AM I got sick of it disagreeing with me and said it's time to stop at good enough, lol. So anywho, here's my tribute to the awesome ninja game Tenchu. (Thats right, NINJAS > PIRATES! LIVE WITH IT!)

Okay, Update! First: Memoirs of a Geisha. Absolutely wonderful movie. I suggest you go watch it now if you haven't. So here's an art piece I did for it. I had a hard time with it, but it came out alright I guess.... Second: Two I did for Holloween. Why, I dunno because I don't really like Holloween. However, I do like Werewovles and Vampires, so I used those. I tried to throw in comedy with the first one: Anemics Anonymous. (I was thinking like Alcoholics Anonymous. Like the Vampire being addicted to Anemic people =P If you know anything about vampires, most of them have like a certain blood type or certain characteristics they favor in the prey they choose. Kinda like how we have favorite foods.) It came out not as good as I'd invisioned, halfway because I'm rusty with my Photoshop work, and halfway because I couldn't find images that were all that great. The second one is Werewolf themed. I just love this for some reason. Even though it could've probably been better had I not been so rusty, this is the result and I like it... Third: A series I did for my characters in my story. Sano Rayhan, the Cardinal (and Cardinal is not like Catholic cardinal. Although he is a religious leader, his church/religion is different from those of our world, although it shares some similaries to pretty much each of them.) and his wife Areia Aerlon (her maiden name, and the one I usually address her as, because I like it better. It was her original name, and something about it just stuck to me.) They all have the same background, but I did that on purpose. Shows they are all connected together for one thing =P Again, I'm still rusty and out of practice for a few months, but that's why I did these, to try to get back into my groove some. The third one is both of them. It's kind of unfinished in a way, as I need a good tagline for it. Since I couldn't bother coming up with one at near 2am, I just changed the font size and stuck the ones from the previous 2 in there.... I did the MoG and Holloween ones at 400x140. I looked at it and decided I liked the 115 or 125 better, so I did the others at 400x125. Edit: Now that I look at it, I think the MoG and holloween were 450x140. I think all of them thus far have been 450, then i just like lost my mind or something and used 400 on the last 3, although I actually like it! ~ Ty, The Muffin Man

More Updates! First: A few banners I made for my Utopia kingdom (http://games.swirve.com/utopia should be right. if not it has a .htm or .html at the end... Awesome game, come play!) 1st & 2nd: Helmet and shield, same background but difference in colors balances and stuff like that.... 3rd & 4th: Steven said he wanted some with beautiful women, so he got beautiful women! (It's safe, they're just in bikini's) Second: More for the series of characters. These 2 are Tyual Maliva, the main "Evil" persona. =P Anyways, guess it brings a face to the name. Couldn't decide which I liked more, so I did one with the color balances and stuff, and one without! *dances* I've been remembering to put in boarders too!! ~ Ty, The Muffin Man
