How did your team do on draft day? Who's going to be the next big star? Discuss draft picks here.

Draft =\ Always bringing new players into teams that I already know all the people to, so then names change and I don't know who's who and who plays for who (especially with the free agent stuff they do now, people are on a different team every year). Really gets me messed up. So boo and hiss to the draft!

I'm fairly new to following football, so I need someone to explain the draft to me. And also, did it already go on? If so, where can I find out who's on the Broncos? And so help me, Jake Plummer "the Snake" had better still be with them!

Draft Day is where the teams get to pick the recruits from colleges that they want to hire on their teams. They have scouts who watch the teams and players to decide who they want how much they're willing to pay them. Each team goes in rounds, getting picks per round, and go in order by worst to best, I believe. So the worst team gets draft pick first and chance to pick the best draftees and such.
Personally, I think it brings in a bunch of new meat and I don't know any of them unless they played for a college team I follow (which I don't really anymore) so I find it a pain.
As for Denver, I'm sure they have a website that keeps up with their draft info and their trades/sign ons/contract renewals and all that good stuff. Players genearlly sign a several year contract with whatever team, so I'm sure Jake Plummer will still be there.

Casidhe, Jake Plummer is still with the Broncos. Try nfl.com or yahoo sports to find out team information. Personally, I don't even remember who my fave team drafted I have so much trouble keeping track of who went where. I just know the Green Bay Packers where intelligent in their drafting this year because, living in Wisconsin most of the year, I hear about such things.
But yeah, the draft basically brings in new players every year and gives the teams a chance to build for the future/fill holes in the roster.
