One of the, if not the most dominant religion in the wolrd today and it's diverse branches. Catholic, Prodestant, Orthodox, etc.
How is it related to or different from other religions of the world?
Discuss the facts, myths, beliefs, symbolism, etc. of Christianity here.

I have absolutley nothing against the christain religion.. what so ever. I believe that absolutely everyon has the right to follow their own path.
But one thing that does bother me quite alot is when people try to convert you or force their beliefs upon you. And as far as i have seen, its is predominately christain people who do this. Not that all do, in fact most dont. I have tons of christain friends that are just as open minded as anyone youll ever meet. But im wondering, does anyone have an answer to why some christain people believe they have the right to push their ideals on others?

My thinking on this: They're simple minded, overzealous fanatics who don't have the sense to think for themselves and realize it's not right to push your beliefs on others.

Haha, Uhm. Well that pretty much answers my question right there. Very succinct, straight to the point. Not much to argue with.

Well, in all honesty I will agree to a point with what my bro said, but I have to disagree a bit. A lot of it starts when you are young and are still able to be molded so to speak. And well when I used to be one of those types of Christians I didn't realize what I was doing. I didn't realize that maybe others could be just as right as I. I honestly believed that my religion was right and that everyone else's was wrong, but I did learn my lesson and it helped me to be more open.
So, in defense to some of those overzealous people, some of them honestly don't realize that what they are doing is wrong, and others just don't care. It's either their way or no way. But, I really wish everyone could be open minded about these things because it does drive me insane about the churches going "we're right and you're wrong because....." and then I stop listening because they can't give a true biblical explanation of why they are right and another is wrong. I seriously get annoyed by that fact, and I had a pastor sort of start with me on that, but alas I was too exhausted to argue, and I figured why argue.

Whatever they're excuse, they're still simple minded and overzealous. Simple minded for not knowing better or for being thick headed enough to say my way or no way =P
Sorry, fanatics bug me. I'm like the KKK for fanatics instead of black people.

but what if a fanatics belief is that they believe god wants them to teach others his religion? should they not act upon that belief?

Uhm, I think that is the point they are trying to make. That fanaticsm is wrong. SO if we follow that line of thought, then no, they shouldn't follow that belief.
NOW. I am partly an egoist (not to be confused with Egotist) and in this philosophical belief, one believes what they want and is concerned about doing what is best for themselves and what they believe. However, a huge part of this belief is that doing what they believe can NOT inpede on anyone elses beliefs. And this is what Fanatics are doing, impedeing on others right to believe what they want.
SO, call me close minded, but as much as there is freedom of thought, I personally believe that the people that try to convert and push their religion on others are wrong.

There are right ways and wrong ways to approach other people about your religion. The people I'm talking about are more common, and do it the wrong way.
