Socrates is my FaVoRitE philosopher. But my mind is kinda mushy from tiredness right now... but i posted why in my introductions..
I also like Kants theory about the unknown and our need to categorize things. And lots of other Philosphers. . . Ill list them all some day

I've heard Kant's theory, but it's been a long time. I need to refresh on it.
Socrates is good, as well as Plato. One thing I've noticed with Plato is that he likes to prove his ideas logically or mathematically, which is very interesting.

Well, while it is interesting.. it isn't unique. There are many philosophers that double as mathematicians. Example.. Descarte. The guy who said "I think therefore I am" He found that the only thing you can be sure of, besides that if you think then therefore you exist... is math.
But yah, many philosophers try to very logically prove things, its really mostly amateur philosophers that dont.

Yes, but no the whole amateur note: I want to bring up a quote by Walt Disney. I don't know exactly how it goes, but' it speaks of the wisdom that comes from the mouths of children. And aren't children the most amateur at all things? =P
Not proving it logically isn't always bad, because there are things in the world that defy logic. Especially emotions.

Oh, I hope you didn't think i was saying that if it isn't logical its bad...
I mean, have you listened to half my arguments? And i change ideas everyday. While I love logic, I am an extremely emotional person. In my yearbook 6 people signed that i was a "passionate girl" ( i hope they meant that in a good way )
So yes, I totally agree that it isn't always best to prove things logically, and yes "From the mouth of babes comes the truth" or however that goes. Emotions are amazing. I live every second by them. I have half a mind that is extremely reasonable and logical and all of that (hence why i am so iffy about religion) and another half that is extremely emotional and compassionate (hence why i am so iffy about religion the other way)
So yah.

I have a small request, i just took a philosphy class and i totally bombed it i just couldnt remember who stood for what and why and all that.......sad i know,,,,, i was wondering if maybe someone could make individual threads for some of the well known philosophers like the top 10 or 15 such as kant and socrates, and kind of embelish a little on what they stand for? could be cool to see them discussed individually and maybe even have a few debates on them??just a thought....

lol, I'm more into personal philosophies myself, sorry. I like to read a bit of Plato sometimes, but I never have time to with other things I have to read for school or something, and just no time in general....Generally, I prefer greek/older philosophy to more modern things as well..
As for Kant I don't know much about his ideas except that I disagree with them quite a bit from my exposure to them, and I think of him more as a failed psychologist than philosopher..
