This thread is reserved for the classics. As much as we'd like to bunch the movies we grew up with when we were "younger," I'm intending this "Classics" thread for the actual classics. You know 'em... the silents. The black and whites. The intro of Technicolor... the genre isle you avoid whenever you went to the video store. (((Yes. I know... But there really was a time when people actually went to the video store to get videos. ))) First off, what are some of your favorite classics and why?

My favourite classics are the old Gangster films with the likes of Jimmy Cagney and Humphrey Bogart. Anyone remember seeing Angels With Dirty Faces or, even better, White Heat with Cagney's now famous end sequence where he's stood on top of a chemical silo shouting "Top of the world Ma!" just before it blows up? Outstanding.

I have to say one of my favorite classics would have to be "Arsenic and Old Lace." My roommate and I had a big arguement about whether I was going to watch Casablanca (okay, she wanted to watch it at 3 in the morning). I did like that one. I also really like the old musicals of those days.

I loved Bob Hope movies when I was growing up. His b&w ones were always better than the color ones for some reason. The early Road To ... films with Bing Crosby were great for their cheesiness.

The Ultimate clasic in my mind is Citizen Cane. Ive had to watch that movie at least 6 times because one of my teachers had an obsession.
I like it well enough, and the story and cinemetography are interesting.... has anyone else seen it? what do you think about it?
