Best Rock group ever anyone? Are the old timer the best, bands like Deep Purple, Lynyrd Skynard and Led Zeppelin? How about the Heavy Metal bands of the 80's, such as AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Saxon? Or are the new guys such as Greenday, The Rasmus and Good Charlotte the best? For me, the new guys are just trying to emmulate the bands of the 80's, and not doing a very good job of it. Saying that, I don't mind the new guys, but there's only one band worth their salt. Evanescance. Amy Lee is just a Goddess, pure and simple, and Ben Moody? Awesome. But the best rock group ever? Has to be Guns'n'Roses. Axel Rose is just unmistakabley brilliant and, with Slash on lead guitar, totally outstanding. But Evanescance come a extremely close second.

*high five fore Seffy* Lynyrd Skynard, AC/DC, Iron Maiden! Woo!
Greenday has some good songs, but I'd say by no means are they trying to emulate the 80s. I don't like Good Charlotte at all.
Evanesence is good, I love Amy Lee's voice.
I also have to pull out Blind Guardian and Demons and Wizards. Both great bands (with the same lead singer mind you.)
Not much on Guns'n'Roses. They're alright, but not my favorite.
I think each different age has it's own talent to bring, and all of which are good if you can appreciate it. I can't say any one time is better than the other, because they all bring their own originality and styles to Rock.

I would have to say that Led Zeppelin is the best.. how could you think it be anyone else? Seriously though, Led is amazing. My Immortal by Evanesence... not really rock, but I really love that song. Alot. Alot alot. I dont really listen to them otherwise. I used to listen to Greenday all the time, and i even saw them in concert. But I tend to like the oldies for Rock over the new guys. But Ill listen to almost anything. But for newer music I tend to like Alternative.

Alternative is alright.
Evanesence is a rock band =P That particular song isn't so much with just the piano, but with the full band version, it is.
Led Zeppelin is pretty good.
Greenday...so/so. Not my favorite, but they have some okay songs.
I say this and I'm in the midst of my Iron Maiden music right now...Dance of Death just came on.

I know he isn't REALLY Rock, but i didn't see an "Early Punk" genre..
I was listening to BILLY IDOL all day today. Gotta love that guy. I saw him in concert. He is like.. 50 and still pulling off the whole sex symbol deal. Thats pretty amazing.
I was also recently listening to AC/DC and The Hives. and then me and my dad had a Bob Seager marathon in the car on the drive down to LA the other day. I love it when me and my dad drive down to LA alone. Its an hour and ahalf of good music goodness.
And i dont particularly like Green Day that much anymore, but i did go through a faze. Now they kinda.. bug me a teeny bit.

Billy Idol rocks. White Wedding, Rebel Yell and Mony Mony are superb.
Has anyone heard of a group from Bristol here in the UK called Muse? They've just released a new album and the first track from the album, Supermassive Black Hole is outstanding.

I grew up listening to some of the classic rock: Guns 'N' Roses, AC/DC, cuss word Yankees, The Eagles, etc. That's pretty much all that make up my favorite play list on my iPod (well, mixed with a few others, but very few).

Linkin Park = Emo Music. lol. I listen to a few of their songs, but not that many.
Breaking the Habit is okay, and so is In the End.

I like very few of Linkin Park's songs, but the ones I do like I think are really great. There's no in between with them; it's either really, really great, or really, really bad.

Muse is...interesting to say the least. I heard them a bit when I was England when they were first starting to be big. Not sure how I feel about 'em to be honest. I have to say, I like the Eagles. "Hotel California" is a classic no matter which way you look at it. Great song. And a lot of the other things they did were pretty darn good too. *will have to borrow Dad's best of CD sometime* Hmm, let's see, going a little older here, I'm gonna say Steppenwolf and Three Dog Night are also among my favorites. Yeah, my Dad definitely had an influence on my music choices. "Magic Carpet Ride," "Joy to the World," "Eli's Coming" are all great songs.
