Uhm.. hi! *waves*
My name is Lisi, but you all can call me 2b, or 2bfound or Lisi or Lis.
I love love love to meet new people and often will randomly PM people if i like there avvys or siggys or whatever, so feel free to PM me to talk or annnytthing. Though sometimes I find it hard to jump into conversations on message boards when I dont know anyone, so if I ever seem awkward thats why.
I could go into more detail but it could get pretty monotonous, so if you have any questions ask.

Nice to meet you, Lisi.
I have a friend who's really into journalism so that's awesome =)
We also have a philosophy section near the bottom of the index page on I.T. Feel free to hang out around it and contribute. Maybe you can get some stuff started there.
I like to check out philosophy as a habit. I need to finish reading Timaeus even.... Personally, I enjoy the philosophies of everyday people. How does the average person look at life? Although it's interesting to read Plato or some such, I find that everyone has their own views to contribute, and what is a philosophy except someone's views or ideas?
Glad to have you with us. I'm sure my sister (Mistress) Will be about before long to sort you into a group!

Welcome Lisi. Maybe you could explain all this Philosophy stuff to me. Many people have tried and I still don't get it. Look forward to seeing you around the place and maybe getting to know you a little better.

I'd probably early graduate if I knew how bad my school is now. But I didn't so =\
Which means I'd have been a senior when I was 15 or 16....

I love to look at the philosophy of everyday people as well. For instance, im still in the process of figuring my own out! Its hard because i have many many conflicting ideas that all want to fit together despite the fact that they are on opposite sides!
And i would love to try to explain philosophy to ya seffy, definitly send me a pm sometime..
And what do you mean you would have graduated early if you had known how bad your school was, Ty?
AND finally. Ms. Elmo. Im happy as a bunny rabbit (not the trix one tho) to see your on this sight tooo. Maybe we will finally be in the same group! AH! that would be spectacular. EXCEPT for the fact that i have my heart set on being in Dracos group. Gotta love draco

I mean my school really sucks and has a lot of issues and ***holes in it's administration, and if I'd known how bad it was when I started, I'd have graduated early to get out of the school ASAP instead of going all 4 years.
*high five* way to want to be Draco. Although, Mistress randomly sorts, so we just have to hope for the best right? Maybe I can put in appeal to my sister, doubt it'd work though =P

haha, I know mistress from another site so maaaybe she will be reallly nice and put me where i want, but if not.. oh well.. cest la vie (or however it is spelled in french)
So are you a senior now in highschool? I have a friend who graduated halfway thru our junior year and is now taking classes at CC. She wants to transfer to UC Davis after. It worked out pretty well for her, and I can imagine if your school sucks you would want to do so as well... but i kinda like my highschool, so im happy to go all four years.

Yeah I'm going to be a senior. I'll finish out my year and stuff.
I'm looking at college at U of A mostly right now, Although I'm taking a tour of ETSU here in TN next week and if I like it, then I'll start thinking about it.

Looks like our sway on your sister didn't exactly work.. oh well.. i like the color of my name *grins*
Im looking into colleges on the east coast... i think that college is a great time to change where you are, since its a relatively simple time in life to move.. so i want to try something totally different. Especially since the city i live in is rich and sheltered. I try my best to get a worldly view.. but theres only so much i can do!

ETSU is an east coast school, and one of the better ones. The thing is, I wonder if it's not too close to my second home (mom and stepdad).
Same with UALR, why I've basically decided not to start there, I think it's too close to home. UofA is far enough away, but still not like an OMG unreal distance from home.

Hiya Lisi, welcome to Immortal Thought! Sorry you didn't get into the Draco group, but Centauri's good too, I promise. Okay, a few questions to start you off: 1. Which historical figure do you like the most and why? 2. If you only had one book to read for the rest of your life, which book would it be and why? 3. If you could be any character from a TV show which one would it be and why?
Other than that, any problems, feel free to PM your group leader, me, or anyone else. Have fun and thanks for joining!

Wow, does everyone get asked these questions?
hmm.. they are kinda hard to answer, but ill try my bestest.
What historical figure do i like the best?
Socrates. Basically, i really like his ideals about ignorance and that most men that think they know everything about something really know nothing. I loved how he would prove others ignorance through questions and while he was very humble and agreed that he too was ignorant, he was probably the wisest of them all. ALSO i read what he said at his trial, basically his closing statement and i just thought he was hilarious. Very sarcastic and satirical and intelligent, and i loved it!
If I had one book, which would it be? WELL. I dont know thats really hard. Im the kind of person that falls in love with each book as i read it. So the last one is my new favorite. BUT. gr. uh... Id say, maybe Fight Club. MAYBE. Im not sure, I think it really depends on my mood.
If I could be any Tv character... I would be... hmmmmm.... well, not that i like the show itself that much, though i did go through a faze... i guess i would say Piper from charmed, simply because i think it would be amazing to have powers but even though i like prues better, i would want to be piper because she was much more down to earth and unnaffected by the drama.
But i dont really like that question.. cuz i wouldn't really want to be anyone on tv, too unreal.
And to Ty, I still need to look into colleges, perferably i would go somewhere in boston, but i need to do more research. I was interessted in St Andrews in Scottland for a little while, but i think that might be too to far away.. even though the east coast is already pretty darn far from where i live. But yah. I duno... its kind of a hard descision for me, lots of factors going in to where i want to go.

Lisi, I ask hard questions because I don't get one word answers in response ... half the fun is making you think about them. And yes, I did actually answer them myself to be fair ...
Good luck on looking for a college. I'm feeling fortunate that I knew where I was going the whole time. I looked some other universities, but I always knew where I was going, and I love it there. I hope you find one that fits you.

I have to wonder: When did questions that make you think become "hard" questions. I've always thought they were fun. I always thought the hard ones were when you spent time thinking about it, and still had to rethink it, and think it over again.
The questions you have to look at 20 different times from 20 different views, to make a final decision, know the kind I mean?
Good answers though, Lisi. Piper is my favorite (and she really has the best powers. I mean Temporal Stasis = the awesomeness.) Socrates I haven't gotten to read much, except the very little Plato I've gotten ahold of, and his diolauge in there. Seems even from that that he was a most humble, but educated man. He didn't use his intelligence to make himself higher than other people, but to try and educate them.

Yup thats why socrates rocks my socks.
I know, hard questions are the best... but at the same time, when you have to answer them definitively they become hard for me.. because i dont want to put anything down in stone.. especially because i change my mind all the time.
haha, and Ive gotten used to you calling me Lisi now.. i think 2b would be weird now. I guess 2b was like a mask i used on other sites, but Im being the most myself ive ever been on forums such as these, so I suppose Lisi is appropriate.
And thanks Wile, I hope i find the right college too! I just got my SAT scores back... and while they aren't BAD they aren't exactly where i wanted them, i would have liked to have them just a smidge higher. So now i have to decide if I take them again in October, or if i hope my GPA and extra curriculars will be enough to balance it out.. Oy.

Taking the SAT at like 15 or 16? Woah. I'm taking it next year sometime, and I'm 17, will be 18 when I graduate.
I've taken the ACT twice and have a 29, thinking of taking it again and trying for a 30. Not sure.
I got a 35 in my reading subsection which helped a lot, not sure I can do it again, lol.

Oh, Im 16 and Im going to be a Senior next year, so actually... im not doing that early. If i retake it in October, I will just be making the deadline to turn it in.
I dont think Im going to take the ACTs at all tho. And i REALLY hope i dont have to take the SATs again!

|
|
Post by Tyual on Jul 5, 2006 22:13:22 GMT -5
Not taking the ACT? That's crazy. ACT is more commonly used as a decider than your SAT score, and I think you have to have higher on the SAT than the ACT equivalent for the same scholarships/financial aid in a lot of cases. I'd defenitally take the ACT as well at least once.

Ty, they prefer the SAT if you're going to school on either of the coasts ... but the ACT is mostly required in the middle of the US. Anyway, I was content with my 27 ACT ... never took the SAT, just the pSAT 'cause it qualified me for some extra scholorships, though I never actually got one of 'em.
And Lisi, I think that's great that you're only 16 and you're going to be a senior.

Eh, where I'm at, generally they want my ACT, but SAT if I'm going out of state or something. For instate, they always look at ACT. Around where I am at least. I assumed it was that way for most of the US, SAT mainly required for out of state college stuff.

Yah, so i just had a conversation with my Mom about my SAT scores. And Wile is right, they perfer SAT scores for most of the schools I am looking into.
And I did well, i got 1980, which isn't AMAZING but my goal was 2000, I went down on my Writing score tho I went up on my Math and Critical reading. Anyways, long story short I got a lecture about maybe having to take it in October and about digging into my extra curriculars and all that. Gah. Not Fun At All.
Thank you very much for the warm welcom Mistress. I try my best to express my feelings, and if that spices things up... well.. yay!
I hope I enjoy my senior year as well, but its going to be jam packed. I have a full schedule with 3 APs and the rest are Gate, with the excpetion of my two journalism courses (which i am editor in cheif in) and Leadership and then an Astronomy course at CC at night at the planatariam.. BASICALLY i will have no social life... SO i expect you guys to entertain me when i get those 5 minutes to come online in the fall. haha.

what do you mean by Gate? And um what's the highest score you can get on the SAT as I've only taken the ACT and I'm not telling my score, lol. It was bad. Well, it was a 17 just a bit above what was required for me to get into my college of choice.

1980 is really good. Isn't a 2400 the highest now?
I'm serioiusly thinking about going for that 30 or 31 on the ACT now, and it's your fault, lol!

haha, Im sure you can get whatever score you need to, Ty... but Im sooo not taking responsibilty for if you take those tests again. Those things are TORTURE.
Elmo bo Belmo. I think YOU have been ignoring me! What happened to the good times?
And GATE is like.. uhm Honors i guess. I duno, the highest level under AP.. So like.. above general.. uh. does that explain it? it stands for like.. Gifted something something Education. I kinda snuck in. I didn't get in for math, but i did for the other subjects, so my mom just bullied the counclers into getting me into GATE math.. which sucked because it was realllly hard! *pouts*

Good luck in all your classes. I know you'll do well. You won't have a social life, but you'll do well in your classes. Good luck in Math and if you ever need help, let me know and I'll see if I can help you.
